“I used to get really bent out of shape about fashion, to be completely honest. When I was younger I would flip through Vogue after Vogue and just be completely blown away by what I saw, all the beautiful pieces that I could never get my hands on due to the extremely high prices. I also used to become insecure after seeing the string bean models whose beauty almost seemed surreal. I will not lie and tell you I am not still incredibly fascinated by haute couture and models, but I did have an epiphany. Fashion is limitless, it is everywhere. I still have a great appreciation for the art and effort put into fashion magazines, but I now realize I don’t have to pay for fashion inspiration. To me that is the true beauty of fashion, the fact that I can be in the middle of nowhere and the way the lady at the convenience store braids her hair will make me want to go home and try it on myself, though it isn’t in the latest W.”
